My initial blog entry “Action Inquiry: A Personal Note” discusses what I mean by action inquiry in a general way. In the intervening two months, my three associates – Elaine, Mary, Dana – and I have been working hard to construct this website and accomplish the myriad of related tasks involved in starting up this new version of my life’s work.
Each week the four of us have experienced the ups and downs of our attempts at collaborative inquiry via skype and e-mail. At moments, we have needed to make single-loop editorial changes in the website. At other moments, one or another of us has had to make a more difficult double-loop change – say, in how we are exercising power. At still other moments, we have experienced a sense of awe associated with a triple-loop learning experience. For example, the rapid response of 24 of our colleagues and friends accepting the invitation to become Action Inquiry Fellows has given me what I will call a thrill of collaborative communion. This thrill of collaborative communion is both the climax of years of work and play together among the 28 of us, and the prelude to bringing our joint capacities for collaborative inquiry to your service.
We now wish to rediscover such moments of single-, double-, and triple-loop learning in our workshops and our coaching and consulting services with you, our future clients. Welcome to this site and its resources. We hope it will become a significant source of your continuing leadership development and that of your organization.
